Resident urges Brook Park to extend I‑71 sound wall, criticizes three‑minute comment rules

At the Feb. 17 council meeting, resident Ray Peter of 5811 Wangler Drive told the council he has long been troubled by traffic noise from Interstate 71 where the 12‑foot sound wall falls short near Snow Road.
"I know I‑71 Brook Park is protected with a 12 foot sound wall, but not everywhere," Peter said. He described a location south of Snow Road where the wall drops to about four feet and said that with the shorter barrier "you can see vehicles over it" and that nearby houses hear high noise levels.
Peter said he had given a written letter to the clerk but was told the letter could not be read at council, and he criticized the meeting's three‑minute rule for public comment. "We have questions in this city. The questions aren't getting answered," he said, urging elected leaders to provide more substantive responses when residents come forward.
No council action was taken at the meeting to extend the sound wall; the council moved on to other business after the public comment period.
