Brookpark receives Auditor of State award; finance director and staff praised

The City of Brookpark received the Auditor of State Award with Distinction for its 2024 financial reports, a city official announced at the Jan. 20 council meeting.
Tina Ludwig, the Northeast Regional Liaison for Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber, presented the award and said, “It’s my honor to be here on behalf of auditor Faber to present the auditor of state award with distinction to the city of Brook Park.” The recognition was introduced by the council president during the caucus prior to the regular meeting.
Finance Director McGahn accepted the award and credited his finance team by name, thanking Shannon Walsh, Madeline Krueger, Debbie Waters, Sarah Bulick and Bob Veil for “bringing in the revenues” and handling payroll and financial operations. McGahn also noted the award reflects citywide coordination across departments and council’s role in setting a fiscally responsible budget.
Mayor Orcutt and several council members publicly praised the finance office’s leadership and said the award highlighted the city’s ability to manage major projects. Orcutt described the department as operating “the most efficient way you can run any department,” and noted the recognition came amid what he called a large regional project affecting Northeast Ohio.
The award presentation prompted brief council and staff remarks of appreciation. Finance Director McGahn also announced an upcoming income tax update from the city’s income tax administrator, Brian Thunberg, scheduled for Feb. 3.
