The committee recommended $56,250 for Freedom Life Avery, $50,000 for High Country Community Health, $25,000 for Marjorie Williams Academy and $51,000 for the Mediation & Restorative Justice Center, for a total of $182,250. The committee described the process as a two‑wave settlement review (Wave I = July 2021 funds; Wave II = December 2022 funds). Recommended awards are subject to amended budgets, scopes of work, and signed memoranda of understanding that will be reviewed by county attorneys before funds are released.
Committee members emphasized reporting and accountability: organizations will submit narrative and financial progress reports, present an overview at next year’s public input meeting, and provide final reports within 60 days of the grant term’s conclusion.
The board did not take final action at the meeting; staff said the board would decide by June 17 and that MOUs and reporting requirements would be required before disbursement.
