Fallon County commissioners boost fireworks funding, approve historical society reimbursement and move several agreements forward

Fallon County commissioners approved a one‑time increase in the county’s contribution to the community fireworks fund to $7,500 and voted to reimburse the Hillfelon Historical Society $2,694.60 from museum donation funds.

The board unanimously approved the fireworks contribution after a commissioner moved to raise the county’s donation for the national 250th celebration; the motion was seconded and carried on a voice vote. Commissioners also approved using museum donation funds to reimburse the historical society for a portion of its subscription costs, with staff to record the exact figure for the formal record.

Beyond budget actions, commissioners directed staff to finish administrative steps on several intergovernmental items. County staff will send a health‑care facility lease to the provider for review and will prepare four memorandums of understanding to guarantee local access to riprap, sand and other emergency materials for the Lower Dam project. A deed involving Plevna Rural was flagged for signature and notary, after which staff will route the paperwork to Flood and Rural contacts.

Commissioners emphasized transparency: they asked that resolutions and property descriptions for a pending parcel transfer with the City of Baker include acreages, valuations and clear public‑notice plans before both jurisdictions advertise for joint public hearings. The county noted several motions and approvals will be placed on future work‑session agendas for formal adoption.

The work session recessed after the votes and later adjourned with the board noting an upcoming Red Butte Basin Association meeting.
