The Fallon County Commission on Feb. 2 voted to solicit contractor bids for the 6th Street West box culvert (RCBC) project and approved several routine financial actions.
During a presentation of design details and schedule, county project staff recommended issuing an invite to bid with a March 2 opening. Commissioner 2 moved to go out to bid; Commissioner 1 seconded the motion and the commission carried it, instructing staff to finalize the bid opening time and publish the invite. The commission recorded the motion as approved for the 6th Street West RCBC project.
In a single work session the board also approved payroll withholdings totaling $660,496.70 and end‑of‑month claims of $364,257.25. Both items passed on voice vote with no discussion recorded. The commission approved Resolution 11‑74 to accept a MidRivers grant to purchase desktop computers for the Fallon County Library; commissioners voted the resolution carried. The board granted a veteran burial benefit payment of $600 to the family of Ronald Shepherd under existing policy.
The commission also moved into a closed session to discuss an amended civil complaint involving the county; the motion to close the meeting for litigation purposes was seconded and carried according to the open‑meeting act finding recorded on the public record.
What happens next: staff will post the finalized bid notice for the 6th Street West RCBC project and follow county procurement procedures; claims and payroll were authorized for payment. The closed‑session discussion was not recorded publicly.
