Senate committee unanimously advances two nominees to Child Abuse Prevention Board

The Senate Health and Human Services Committee moved two nominees for the Child Abuse Prevention Trust Fund Board to the full Senate with a favorable recommendation and placed their confirmations on the consent calendar.

Aaron Miller (identified in the hearing as the family-strengthening director for the Colorado Department of Human Services) introduced the nominees. Lindsay Spreaker said she brings more than 25 years of experience in clinical social work and domestic violence treatment, serves as director of operations at Lifelong and as adjunct faculty at the University of Denver, and emphasized prevention-focused work with families and communities. Antonia Chiesa introduced herself as a professor of pediatrics at the University of Colorado, director of health care services at the Kemp Center specializing in child abuse pediatrics, and medical director of the Children's Hospital Colorado Child Protection Team; she said she wants to use clinical and academic experience to promote system-level prevention.

A committee member moved to send both nominees to the full Senate with a favorable recommendation. The roll was called and members recorded ayes (no opposition was recorded). The committee then moved the confirmations to the consent calendar. The committee recorded no substantive questions for the nominees during the hearing.
