Nemaha County board unanimously approves motor vehicle tax exemption for nonprofit

The Nemaha County Board of Equalization on Dec. 3, 2025, unanimously approved an exemption from motor vehicle taxes for Southeast Nebraska Community Action for a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. County Treasurer Jana Gerdes presented an Application for Motor Vehicle Exemption (Form 457) for the 2026 year before the board voted.
Commissioner Mike Hall moved to approve the exemption; Commissioner Mike Weiss seconded. The board recorded a unanimous roll call vote: Weiss, aye; Hall, aye; Bryan Mellage, aye. The motion granted the vehicle exemption as requested on the Form 457 application.
The brief meeting convened at 10:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Chambers at the Nemaha County Courthouse in Auburn. Earlier on the agenda the board approved the meeting agenda as presented and approved the Oct. 8, 2025 minutes without corrections. With no further business the board adjourned at 10:35 a.m.
County Clerk Diane Johnson later certified the minutes and noted that a complete copy is available during normal business hours at the Nemaha County Clerk’s office and on the county website.
