The Pacific County Board of County Commissioners on July 14 approved a voluntary change in status for senior accountant Andrea Evers, reducing her position from 1.0 full-time equivalent to 0.25 FTE and authorizing staff to post and hire for an accountant (Local 367c grade 117) or a senior accountant (grade 120), contingent on adequate budget appropriations. The motion was moved by a board member and seconded by the chair and passed with three ayes.
Board member Renee, speaking after the motion was introduced, said the reduced schedule will still allow the county to use Evers’ expertise for special projects and succession planning. "We're still able to utilize her expertise in special projects... and she'll be learning some of that stuff too," Renee said, noting the arrangement would ease workload pressures on other staff.
A board member who supported the motion described a recent workshop as productive and said the change was a "win-win" that would help the office manage pending tasks, including upcoming tax-title work that was mentioned during discussion. The motion language referenced the Local 367c collective bargaining agreement, section 5.15, and specified that any hiring is subject to adequate budget appropriations.
The board recorded three ayes on the motion and moved the personnel action forward. No abstentions or objections were recorded. The personnel action will be implemented consistent with the collective bargaining agreement and contingent on budget availability.
