The Pacific County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 12 approved a package of routine personnel and procurement items, including step increases for several prosecutor's office employees, a three-truck purchase for the sheriff's patrol fleet, HVAC repairs at the county administrative facility, and a new contract to provide ATM services at the fair.
Personnel: The board approved step increases for prosecutor's office staff reported on the consent agenda (including Linda Stone and Bonnie Walker) citing the need to retain experienced staff and align with neighboring jurisdictions. A separate motion to renew out-of-class pay for Sarah Beam (to compensate higher-level duties) was discussed at length and failed on a voice vote after commissioners raised concerns about using out-of-class pay instead of reclassification.
Procurement and contracts: The board approved a purchase of three patrol trucks totaling $158,097.45 (plus taxes and fees) to be paid from the Sheriff's Capital Fund; under-sheriff/staff said the trucks will replace vehicles expected to exceed 150,000 miles and estimated they would be in service by next summer after upfitting. The board also approved HVAC repairs at the Long Beach administrative facility for $7,652.99 (cumulative reserve fund 197) and a contract for ATM services with J and B Vaulting to service fair visitors and vendors.
Health and program agreements: Commissioners approved school-nurse service contracts for the 2025–26 school year for multiple districts and formally terminated the county's subscription and data-option agreement with Patagonia Health as public health transitions to InSync and Qualifacts; staff said data extraction and secure storage plans are in place and that Patagonia services would end after Dec. 20, 2025.
Other actions: The board approved interagency agreements including ACOC2609 (truancy and youth services) and K3549 ($25,000 with the Washington State Department of Agriculture for invasive knotweed control), accepted a performance bond for pavement striping services, and approved fair concession-space assignments and facility fee reductions for the Harvest Festival on Oct. 25, 2025.
How the board voted: Most motions were carried by voice vote with commissioners saying "aye" on the record. Several items were seconded and discussed by staff and commissioners before passage. The meeting recessed for an executive session on personnel matters and reconvened at 3:02 p.m., announcing no decisions were made in the public record during that closed session.
