Pacific County jail honors officer for lifesaving intervention and names corrections officers of the quarter

Pacific County Jail Services recognized staff at the July 8, 2025, meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. James A. Bird, director of jail services, presented a lifesaving award to Officer Kevin Beach for his actions on June 2, 2025, when he intervened in an attempted suicide in Pod 7 at about 6:05 p.m.
"Officer Beach's quick response, recognition of the situation, immediate and appropriate action directly resulted in the saving of a human life," James A. Bird said while presenting the accolade. The director noted the actions reflect credit upon the officer and the corrections profession.
Bird also recognized Leanne Strozyk as corrections officer of the quarter (peer-selected) and said a plaque for Felicia Hodgson will be provided once it arrives. Commissioners applauded staff and thanked jail personnel for their service.
The recognition was presented during the regular meeting; no formal action beyond acknowledgment was taken by the board.
