Public Works obtained authority to issue calls for bids for rock, gravel and chiprock for road maintenance and to solicit an on-call civil engineering RFQ for firms with federal-aid experience. The clerk’s office was authorized to enter a 60-month copier lease. The board also approved temporary seasonal hires for parks, fairgrounds and summer engineering aides, and approved a vehicle purchase for the road equipment fund.
On personnel matters the board confirmed separation of Michael Parker as undersheriff effective March 31, 2025, and appointed Michael Ray as undersheriff effective April 1, 2025. The board approved multiple hires in Health & Human Services and related departments, including crisis care coordinator positions. It also renewed an interjurisdictional inmate-boarding contract for city-booked inmates for two years and adopted proclamations recognizing April as Fair Housing Month and National Library Week.
Chair (S2) opened the meeting and explained public-comment procedures, and multiple department staff provided short presentations or clarifications on items. For example, Andrea (S8) said the tax-title sale process will be “the same as we’ve done the last couple years,” and Jen (S7) described the need for engineers experienced with federal-aid projects for culvert and grant work.
