Pacific County commissioners on April 22 approved a package intended to expand medical coverage at the county jail: a procurement for Zander Cardian medical sensors and gateways and a professional services agreement with Ivy Medical PLLC (DBA Aspen Medical) to provide telehealth and clinical oversight.
"Aspen will be providing the medical director and RN, as well as a...assistant," said the director involved in jail services (speaker 7), describing the agreement as a hybrid approach while the county explores on-site staffing. He said Aspen will train staff to support sick call and other medical operations and expected an on-site representative to visit April 30 pending contract approval.
The board adopted Resolution 2025-023 to purchase the sensor/gateway package from Reassurance Solutions LLC ($69,000 plus tax) and separately approved the professional-services agreement for telehealth, subject to legal review and final acceptance. Staff described the sensors as early-warning devices that notify staff if monitored vitals cross set thresholds; they emphasized the sensors are intended to enhance, not replace, jail staff.
Commissioners and staff acknowledged the complexity of arranging jail medical services in a small rural county and praised interdepartmental collaboration with public health, behavioral health partners, and the sheriff’s office. The board approved both actions by voice vote.
