Fulton County proclaims March 2026 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 24 approved a proclamation designating March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and commended citizens to observe the month.
Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to approve and execute the proclamation, which reads in part: "March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and do commend this observance to all of our citizens and recognize that Fulton County becomes a better place when people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities, and knowing we are all One World, many Abilities!" The motion carried unanimously.
Representatives from local providers and advocacy organizations attended the signing, including Marissa Hockenberry (Occupational Services Inc.), Erica Ramsey (CRI), Rebecca Weaver (Franklin/Fulton IDD Program Specialist), staff and residents from Full Circle Residence, Lupey Behavioral Services, Fulton County Human Services and several members of The Arc of Franklin/Fulton Counties. A group photograph was taken with the commissioners following the proclamation.
The proclamation does not specify new funding or programs; it is a formal recognition encouraging community awareness and inclusion.
