County CEO says camera overhaul and new meeting sound system under review

The county's chief executive officer told the Anaconda Deer Lodge County Commission that staff are researching a substantial upgrade to the county's video‑surveillance and meeting audio systems.
"Our camera system is absolutely horrible to non existent," the CEO said, adding staff are collecting quotes for cameras inside and outside the courthouse and possibly at other county facilities. He said some models under consideration can capture license plate numbers and that initial installation costs would be "fairly substantial."
The CEO also said staff are evaluating a new sound and recording system to improve the clarity and archiving of commission meetings; he noted current meeting audio can be difficult to follow. Commissioners were told staff will return with more information and cost estimates for future action.
No procurement or contract award took place at this meeting; the CEO described this as an exploratory stage and said proposals will be brought forward for the commission's consideration.
