Commission approves claims, Head Start report, event permits and personnel actions

The Anaconda Deer Lodge County Commission on Sept. 2025 approved routine administrative items including authorization of $254,367.23 in claims, adoption of the county Head Start annual report and several event and personnel actions.

A motion to authorize payments numbered 148067 through 148149 in the amount of $254,367.23 was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote. The commission also moved to approve the minutes for prior September meetings.

The commission voted to approve the Anaconda Deer Lodge County Head Start annual report and program community needs assessment after a motion and second. Separately, commissioners approved sending a support letter from the Beaverhead–Deer Lodge County working group to Montana congressional delegates regarding a forest‑management program. One commissioner proposed also contributing $1,000 to the working group, but another member said that contribution was not on the published agenda and should be scheduled for the next work session; the CEO confirmed the donation request will appear on the next work session agenda for a formal vote.

The board approved a special event permit for the Anaconda Strong memorial benefit scheduled for Sept. 27, 2025 at Al Barr, contingent on receipt of a certificate of insurance. The commission also approved the promotion of Jared Scott from probationary firefighter to firefighter following a recommendation from the fire chief.

All motions were adopted by voice votes during the session. The commission closed routine business and moved to announcements of upcoming meetings.
