County commission approves budget, awards cemetery road contract and clears wastewater blower RFP

The commission also moved and seconded to review and award the bid for the Upper Hill Mount Carmel Cemetery Road project. Deluxe Engineering’s Sarah Jones recommended awarding the contract to Montana Materials; she told commissioners the bidder proposed to pave about 1,800 of the project’s roughly 1,900 linear feet for a total contract near $140,000, or about $77 per linear foot for a 14-foot-wide road. Commissioner Bodette moved to award the bid; after a second the chair said, “Ayes have it.”
Finally, the commission approved a request for proposals and the project manual for the Anaconda-Deer Lodge County wastewater treatment plant blower replacement project. County staff had described the blowers and motors as the final major component needed to complete a multi-year overhaul of the plant; estimates discussed in the meeting suggested the work could approach $1 million and that Atlantic-Ridgefield (the local industrial operator) had verbally agreed to assist with costs.
The special meeting record shows each item was moved, seconded and approved with the chair stating that the ayes carried; the transcript does not list a vote tally or recorded dissents for these three actions.
