At its Oct. 28 meeting, the Anaconda Deer Lodge County Commission reviewed a single bid from Dana Safety Supply for the 2026 police vehicle package and placed the item on a future agenda for formal action. Chief Sather explained the bid covers the same Dodge Durango model used last year and that national recalls of bolt-on ballistic glass reduced the vehicle cost.
“This is the same car we got last year, the Dodge Durango,” Chief Sather said, and later added, “It's about $20,000 under what we have budgeted for a vehicle for you.” He also said the department plans to reuse a radio from an existing truck rather than buy a new one, which further lowers the purchase price.
The commission did not take a final vote at the meeting; commissioners asked no additional questions and the item was placed on the agenda for later action. The review included only the bid information and a brief operational explanation of how recalled equipment and equipment transfers would affect pricing.
If the commission proceeds, staff will bring formal award paperwork back to the commission for approval.
