Sarah Klein of Tri Hydro summarized the June 23 bid opening and said the low responsive bid met all requirements; an addendum increased the leveling course from one inch to 1.5 inches to address depressions in the road. Klein said the bid came in significantly below the engineer's estimate and noted liquidated damages of $1,000 per day would apply if the contractor misses the contract completion date (set as the contractor's last date before liquidated damages begin).
Commissioners asked about timing; Klein said overlay work itself should take about a week, with start date determined after submittals and approvals. The commission moved and approved the contract award by voice vote (five ayes, no opposition).
