County staff seek local agreement to accept Montana DOT replacement for Perkins Drive bridge

"It's eligible for MDT funding for a complete replacement at the cost of the state," Carlson said, explaining that MDT periodically reviews its inventory, ranks structures by structural integrity and seeks agreements with local entities to proceed with state-funded replacements.
Commissioners said that entering such an agreement would be to the county’s benefit because it would allow a costly replacement at no local cost. Staff and the county attorney registered no comment during the presentation. No formal vote was recorded during the work session; staff were asked to place the agreement on a future agenda for formal action if appropriate.
Next steps: staff to prepare any required local-agency documentation and place the MDT agreement on a future agenda for county approval.
