County staff updated commissioners on use of a winter tourism grant and recommended a vendor for an outdoor ice rink after an RFP process.
CEO Bridal Everett told the commission the county received approximately $2.5 million in winter tourism grant funds and that Kennedy Commons was prioritized as a primary use of the funds. Staff issued an RFP for an outdoor ice‑rink solution and received three proposals.
Ungreneti (staff) recommended Chill Entertainment as the preferred vendor, noting the company’s price was about $300,000 less than other bids, the design requires a single chiller rather than two, and the company is offering a five‑year guarantee on equipment. Staff said Chill Entertainment provides a turnkey, portable system the county could own and operate seasonally.
Commissioners were given copies of all proposals and were invited to ask questions during the week; staff said formal discussion and potential action would occur at the next meeting.
