Wayne Lent, the county road foreman, described a proposed contract with Sarah Jones of Deluxe Engineering to improve about 1,000 feet of the lower portion of Mount Carmel Upper Hill Cemetery Road.
"What we have before you is a contract with, Sarah Jones of Deluxe Engineering for... approximately probably around 1000 feet or so... Approximate budget, 150 to 160,000 is what it's gonna consist of," Lent said. He described repaving, minor grade changes and installation of safety supports on the outside of the roadway.
Lent said he has located surplus jersey barriers through MDT and coordinated with Jim Guzzani to arrange transport to the courthouse, noting the barriers would be outside the project scope and help reduce cost. The CEO added the work aims to improve cemetery access and address safety concerns on a steep side.
Next steps: commissioners placed the item on the agenda for consideration; no formal contract award or vote is recorded in the transcript.
