Commission approves routine claims, event permits, grants, RFPs and reappointments

The Anaconda‑Deer Lodge County Commission handled several routine and grant‑related items, approving claims, permits, grant applications and RFPs during its meeting.
The commission approved claims numbered 147278 through 147377 totaling $196,614.50. Multiple special event requests were approved conditionally upon receipt of certificates of insurance, including the Anaconda Pride Festival at Kennedy Commons (06/28/2025), the Dead Ringer Horseshoe League Tournament at Washoe Park (07/19–07/20/2025) and Anaconda Yoga at Washoe Park (09/12–09/14/2025).
The commission approved a standby ambulance agreement to provide a dedicated ambulance at an upcoming two‑day motocross event; Fire Chief Tony Connor said the arrangement pays overtime at $100 per hour and provides an auditable contract for the treasurer. The commission also approved a motion to apply for a DNRC firefighter grant that would reimburse eligible budgeted expenditures (staff noted past maximum amounts in the program have been about $14,000 for distributions among departments).
Commissioners approved an RFP for uplands recreation planning to prepare for expected Natural Resource Damage Program (NRDP) funds for trails and signage across county uplands and agreed to a Country Club Road overlay project; staff said the overlay work will include reshaping shoulders, applying millings where needed and laying a leveling course topped by a 2.5–3.0 inch asphalt overlay.
Commissioners also approved a reappointment to the Board of Health (Katie Bruce) after public comment in support. These items were moved, seconded and approved by voice votes.
