The Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Commission approved an amendment to Ordinance 277 to extend the domestic animal task force’s reporting timeline.
Chair opened a public hearing on the ordinance change and developer and task-force representatives described progress and the need for more community input. Jeffrey Miles told commissioners that the task force had completed information gathering and needed more community involvement to finalize drafts; he said the task force planned to meet on June 18 at the Metcalf Center and would meet every two weeks to complete work.
The amendment modifies the ordinance’s reporting window; the chair explained the only substantive change is increasing the time allowed for the task force to report (from six months to twelve months as discussed during the hearing). After public comment, a motion to approve the amendment was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The commission recorded the amendment as approved; staff will continue to accept public input and the task force will report back within the newly granted time frame.
