He described specific match rates: the bridge project was described as roughly 80% federal and 20% local, while a guardrail safety grant was described as about 90% federal and 10% local. Chris also described a larger Campbellberg Road project of roughly $43 million for which Daviess County's local share was cited as about $8 million.
Chris outlined procurement deadlines: letters of interest (LOIs) for the countywide bridge-inspection contract are due March 13 and other RFPs were expected to be posted with deadlines near March 31; he warned that consultants must be under contract by Aug. 1 to secure some funds.
On a separate item, commissioners considered a task-based environmental-services contract with BWise Consulting described in the meeting as a not-to-exceed arrangement. The board approved the contract by voice vote (motion passed 3-0). The motion was announced as "Motion by Commissioner Cook; second by Commissioner Gabbard."
Commissioners also voted to move the highway meeting start time to 7:30 a.m. (motion passed 3-0).
