City officials told council that engineers determined the Glenview Drive culvert had deteriorated to the point that both sides of the roadway were potentially impassable, and the city closed the section Feb. 12.
A council member and the public works superintendent said the area will remain closed until the culvert is replaced. Public works reported people have moved road-closure signs and equipment; police are monitoring the site and the city asked residents to avoid the area.
Public works also reported that crews repaired more than 21 water leaks in the past three weeks and the department has been handling overtime calls related to the recent cold weather.
The council asked that public works keep residents informed of timelines for replacement and that staff continue to log work orders to create a paper trail for service requests and repairs.
