The La Porte City Planning Commission approved preliminary and final plats for the Hunter Woods subdivision, authorizing the division of existing platted parcels into individual townhouse lots.
City planning staff told the commission the proposed plats conform to the city's subdivision ordinance and RTV zoning requirements. "Staff does recommend approval of both the preliminary and final plat," the staff member stated, noting no new roads are proposed and the lots meet required width, depth and frontage standards.
Charlie Ray of Doonland Group, representing the petitioners, described the project as a reconfiguration rather than an increase in dwelling units: "We're just dividing those into each townhouse, so each townhouse has their own little piece of property," he said, adding that the developer will record the lots before construction at staff's request.
The chair opened the floor for public comment; none was offered. A commissioner moved to approve items 5 and 6 together as permitted by staff counsel, a second was recorded and the commission approved the motion by voice vote.
The commission did not record further conditions on the approvals. The plats were approved and the commission moved on to the next agenda item.
