Hancock County board approves federal-aid pavement projects and two tax deeds

Hancock County commissioners on Feb. 17 unanimously approved a consent agenda that included two federal-aid pavement-preservation resolutions and two tax deeds.
On a motion by Commissioner Joe Boyles, seconded by Michelle Merritt, the board approved a resolution to secure County Federal Aid Matching Fund assistance for Pavement Preservation for 9 miles on Ferris Road with no local matching share, and a separate resolution for 11.1 miles on Bentley–Saint Mary Road, also with no local share. The board also approved Tax Deed numbers 06-21-000-931 and 09-17-000-451. A roll-call vote recorded all members present voting yes.
Bobi James asked that an amended resolution fixing compensation for the animal control warden be removed from the consent agenda for further review, saying she had received the proposed amendment that morning and wanted time to verify statutory wording. The minutes record her request to table that amendment until the March health meeting; they do not record a separate vote to table the item.
The approvals were routine, according to the minutes, and were recorded as part of the consent agenda process. The board recessed the meeting at 7:01 p.m. and will meet next on Monday, March 16 because Election Day falls on March 17.
