Lila Johnson came forward to accept the recognition and thanked the council and community. “I wanna thank you for this recognition,” she said, and told the council she would donate five turkeys to a local program run by Dairy Glen.
The resolution was passed on its first reading by an 8–0 vote. Council members said the measure was intended as formal recognition of the restaurant’s longevity and contribution to Lima’s cultural and economic life.
The council’s action was purely honorary; no regulatory or funding decision was attached to the recognition. Johnson’s commitment to donate food to a local program was presented at the meeting as a statement of gratitude rather than a council-directed program.
The council moved on to other business after the recognition and brief remarks from Johnson and several council members.
