Planning Commission hears progress report: comprehensive plan essentially complete; zoning updates to follow

At the Nov. 12 meeting of the Lincoln County Planning Commission, County Planner Judy Clark reported that the county’s comprehensive plan is essentially complete and has been circulated to the steering committee for review.

Clark said staff are working to update the county’s zoning regulations to ensure consistency with the comprehensive plan. She identified topics that will be incorporated into the updated regulations, including wind and solar siting rules and accessory dwelling units, and said the housing study is finished and will accompany the adoption process. Clark said public hearings on the zoning changes and plan adoption are expected to begin in January.

In old business, Commissioner Aaron Edwards asked about the status of an event center; Clark said there had been no response to the last letter and that the matter is with the County Attorney and that the County Board would have authority to revoke conditional use permits. Edwards also asked why Fuqua Subdivision had been filed as a regular subdivision rather than an administrative subdivision; Clark replied that signatures could not be removed because the surveyor who prepared it no longer holds a license. Clark also noted that sessions from the NPZA online Fall Workshop are available on a Zoom link.
