County auditor’s supplemental tax‑rate certification to be presented to council Monday

A Miami County official told the Huber Heights council that Miami County has updated its certified millage to reduce what would otherwise be a steeper property‑tax increase after recent revaluations. The county asked the city to approve a supplemental certification — a one‑reading resolution — and return it by Jan. 31 so the county can apply the amended rate to tax bills.
The presenter said the county amended its inside millage to moderate projected increases, so residents in areas affected by higher valuations will see a smaller increase than the 30% figure being discussed elsewhere. Staff told the council the certification is part of the annual budget process and that the county approved the numbers through its budget commission in December.
Council indicated no objections to moving the item to Monday’s meeting for formal consideration.
