Council to consider $1.73 million Veolia contract increase for 2026 repairs

City staff presented legislation to increase the city's 2026 contract with Veolia by $1,730,000 to cover water treatment plant and distribution-system repair and replacement items costing more than $7,500.
Russ Bergman (S14) told council the agenda packet includes a list of water and sewer repairs identified by the water treatment-plant manager and distribution system manager, and that the requested funds are available within the water and sanitary funds in the current budget. Bergman said an additional $45,000 is included to cover an overage on last year’s maintenance cap expense.
Council had no substantive objections at the work session and staff asked that the legislation be placed on the Monday council agenda for formal action. Gary Bonella of Veolia was present to answer questions, Bergman said.
Staff noted that items under $7,500 remain Veolia maintenance items and that the contract increase covers larger items or those outside the maintenance cap; the city will continue to follow procurement and budget procedures for specific purchases.
The council advanced the item to Monday for a formal vote and any necessary ordinance language and documentation will be included in the regular meeting packet.
