Bryce and others asked staff to reach out to veterans service organizations and the Chamber of Commerce to publicize the event. One member noted the commission is operating on a tight schedule and urged early coordination because some tasks — printing paver flyers and confirming the time capsule — require time.
Members also debated incorporating the city’s anniversary into the ceremony and discussed how to involve local youth groups such as the Young Marines. The commission assigned follow-up tasks: contact the color guard and bugler, finalize the speaker list, and arrange publicity through Parks and Recreation and the Chamber.
