Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles grants several pardons, denies and conditions numerous paroles at Feb. 5 hearing

The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles met Feb. 5, 2026, at 301 South Ripley Street in Montgomery to consider its daily pardon and parole docket. Chair Hal Nash and Board Member Gabrelle Simmons presided; Nicole Lewis recorded the minutes.

The board voted on dozens of individual cases. Several applicants received full pardons restoring civil and political rights, while parole was granted in other cases with conditions such as completion of the Perry County Probation/Parole Reentry Education Program (PREP), enrollment in day‑reporting center programs, NA/AA participation, mental‑health follow up, GPS ankle monitoring and drug assessments upon release. Many other applicants were denied parole; some denials included written reset dates, and several denials listed no reset date.

Examples from the docket: Heather Reid and Barry Williams spoke in support of Manley R. Williams (AIS# 285492), while Kathy Carnes (a member of the victim’s family), Ky' Toria Lawson (VOCAL) and representatives of the Attorney General’s Office and Shelby County District Attorney’s Office spoke against; the board voted to deny parole and set a reset date of February 2029.
