Avery County approves several budget amendments including $509,996 transportation rollover

The sheriff’s office will add $20,000 in proceeds from the sale of a K9 to its budget for the K9 program.
The largest amendment moved $509,996 into FY2025–26 capital outlay for Transportation vehicles after the department was unable to purchase budgeted vans in prior years due to availability. Central Dispatch was approved to pay $11,452.50 to the High Country Council of Governments for prior-year addressing work after E911 determined the expense was not eligible; the board also approved repayment of a $221.50 ineligible E911 hotel expense. The EMS department will roll forward a $30,000 grant from the North Carolina Community Foundation for Hurricane Helene recovery.
