Council grants $40,000 Town Center revitalization exception to 4009 Broadway

Grove City Council approved an exceptional award of $40,000 under the Town Center Commercial Revitalization Grant Program for a project at 4009 Broadway.
At second reading and public hearing, city staff ("Kyle") described the use of funds: matching costs for hood suppression, HVAC/mechanical work, plumbing/electrical and signage to convert an existing bakery/kitchenette area into a fuller service kitchen. Staff noted the program has approved seven similar exceptions in recent years and said the requested amount is consistent with previously awarded projects in the town center. The ordinance includes a clause that would prohibit the property from receiving additional program funding in 2026 or 2027 unless the owner adds a second floor, at which point they could reapply.
No members of the public signed up to speak; the property owner is not present and is located out of state, staff said. Council moved to approve the ordinance at second reading and the motion passed on roll call.
