Summary
Amirez Azainalvand of Native Tech told the commission revised plans for 90 Winona Street simplify and stabilize a proposed retaining wall, avoid increased runoff and include erosion control; commissioners requested a site visit, DEP review and an amendment showing wetland boundaries before approval.
At a Feb. 11 public hearing, Amirez Azainalvand of Native Tech presented revised plans for 90 Winona Street describing changes to a retaining wall and grading intended to stabilize a steep front yard and reduce erosion toward a nearby brook.
Azainalvand said the wall has been simplified to reflect actual site conditions and constructability and that the purpose is stabilization rather than expansion. He told commissioners the proposed grading is intended to flatten a small steep area in the front yard and that all excavated material from the backyard and pool would be reused on site; erosion‑control measures and on‑site infiltration are proposed to avoid increased runoff.
Commissioners said they could not make substantive decisions without a site visit and DEP comments. Several commissioners flagged close proximity to the brook, questioned whether work would affect root flares on trees, and urged Native Tech to place wetland boundaries on the revised plan. The commission voted unanimously to continue the hearing and asked staff to coordinate a site visit and to circulate revised plans to commissioners once submitted.
"The revised detail is intended to reduce the soil movement and improve long term stability in the area," Amirez Azainalvand said. The chair closed by asking the applicant to supply the amended plan showing wetland boundaries and to coordinate with staff on a site visit.
