Hooker County adopts Resolution confirming highway superintendent steps, approves routine bridge inspection contract

The Hooker County Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution 2026-5 on Feb. 12, 2026, confirming the appointment tied to the county highway superintendent and requesting interim compliance recognition so the county remains eligible for state aid. Chairman Bryan Crisp moved to adopt the resolution; Commissioner Thad Emerson seconded and the motion passed on a 3-0 roll call vote.

The board also approved an agreement with Oak Creek Engineering, LLC to perform the county's routine bridge inspections for 2026. Crisp moved acceptance of the contract and Commissioner Julie Kraye seconded; the motion carried unanimously. Clerk Jessica Hampton recorded that warrants and claims for the meeting were audited and allowed prior to these approvals.

Road staff provided updates on planned maintenance. John Copland reported he had measured the roadway for an upcoming armor-coat project and will forward the project documents for final review and publication. Mike Baum told the board he expects crack sealing to occur the third week of February and notified commissioners that a county semi requires repair; the board agreed to purchase and install the listed repair kit.

The actions preserve the county's ability to proceed with state-funded road work by formalizing the superintendent appointment on record and ensuring routine bridge inspections are contracted for the year. The board adjourned at 5:05 p.m.; the next regular meeting is set for March 12 at 3:30 p.m.
