Planning commission recommends Farmstead Phase 8 plat for city council approval

The Grove City Planning Commission recommended that city council approve the Farmstead Phase 8 final plat, which covers 23 residential lots and a right-of-way dedication for an extension of Sweet Basil Lane.

Development department staff told the commission the property was rezoned and the final development plan was approved in 2019, and that the proposed plat ‘‘contains 23 lots and right of way dedication for the extension of Sweet Basil Lane on 5.488 acres and all proposed lots meet the lot size requirement as established in the approved zoning text.’’ The staff recommendation was that the planning commission forward a positive recommendation to city council.

Jim Hyder, who identified himself as appearing on the application and gave his address as 8800 Lyra Drive, Columbus, Ohio, said he was ‘‘just here to answer any questions you may have on the plat.’’ No public opposition or additional testimony was offered during the hearing.

A commission member moved to recommend approval to city council and, following roll-call-style responses recorded in the transcript, the commission recommended approval. The transcript records affirmative responses from Mr. Farnsworth, Mr. Titus, Mr. Roach and Ms. Wemmlinger. The transcript does not show the chair’s recorded vote. The commission’s recommendation is nonbinding; final approval will be decided by city council.

Next steps: the item will be transmitted to Grove City City Council for final action and any future development on the platted lots will require compliance with the approved development plan and subsequent permits.
