Council unanimously approves parks priorities and URS auto-enrollment policy

The Washington Terrace City Council on March 3 unanimously approved two routine items: a priority list for Parks capital projects for the city’s 0–5 year capital plan, and Resolution 26-02 to adopt Utah Retirement System (URS) automatic enrollment for newly hired employees.
Parks Director Carlos Grava said the approved priority list helps the city plan budgets, timelines and grant applications; Council clarified that the approval covers project priorities only and that any specific project requires separate funding approval. The motion to approve the 0–5 year Parks Capital Plan priorities passed unanimously (motion by Council Member Jeff West; second by Council Member Michael Thomas).
City Recorder Amy Rodriguez explained that Resolution 26-02 implements URS's Automatic Enrollment option for the city’s 457 savings plan: newly hired employees would be automatically enrolled at a 2% withholding contribution, and employees would be notified and may opt out on their first day or any time afterward. Rodriguez said there is no fiscal impact to the city because it does not provide matching contributions. The resolution passed unanimously (motion by Council Member Michael Thomas; second by Council Member Anna Davidson).
