Planning and Zoning Board told to nominate member for Affordable Housing Action Committee seat

Development services staff notified the board that one seat on the statutorily required Affordable Housing Action Committee must be filled by a planning and zoning board member; appointments are expected in a couple of months and last year the committee met three times in the fall.
At the March 19 meeting, Brandon Chad, the city’s development services director, informed the Planning and Zoning Board that one seat on the Affordable Housing Action Committee (AHAC) is designated by ordinance to be filled by a planning and zoning board member. Chad said last year the committee met about three times in the fall and that each meeting lasted roughly one to two hours.
Chad asked the board to consider who might fill that seat or to volunteer; he said staff will likely bring appointments forward in a couple of months. A board member asked about the committee’s meeting schedule and Chad reiterated that the time commitment is generally modest but requires some background study.
No formal nomination or appointment was made at the March 19 meeting.
