Boca Raton — The Boca Raton City Council unanimously adopted Resolution 77-2025 on May 27, authorizing the city manager and city clerk to execute a police services agreement with FWC 2026 US Inc to provide security and public-safety support for teams and related personnel during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
City staff told the council the city has been designated a team-based camp city for the international tournament and that the proposed agreement will provide for full reimbursement of police costs. "Boca Raton has been officially designated by FIFA 26 as a team based camp city for the FIFA club Club World Cup 20 25," Mr. Brown said when introducing the resolution.
The agreement covers police and public-safety services for players, retirees, VIPs and related personnel while they are located in or transiting through the city, according to staff. Council members asked whether FIFA had specified staffing levels and whether the reimbursement would cover the city's costs. Mr. Brown said the organization has coordinated with the police department, the sheriff's office and other county agencies and that FIFA’s payments will "equal or exceed" the city’s costs, so the arrangement should not have a negative fiscal impact.
Council members also noted the publicity and prestige that hosting elite clubs could bring. A council member referenced Manchester City as an example, saying the presence of top clubs and Lynn University as host should boost the city's profile. After brief discussion, the council moved, seconded and approved the resolution by a recorded vote of 5-0.
The agreement’s effective date and operational details will be finalized by the city manager and city clerk as authorized; the council did not specify staffing numbers in the public discussion.
