Pacific County commissioners on Nov. 12 approved a range of routine personnel, procurement and administrative items in a single meeting session and recessed to hold an executive session. Key actions included:
• Personnel: The board approved hiring Bailey Buchanan as senior legal assistant, local 367C, grade 116 step 5, effective Nov. 24, 2025, subject to adequate budget appropriations. During discussion one commissioner said they had read Buchanan’s materials and made an unelaborated personal remark about her orientation.
• Job posting: Commissioners authorized posting and advertising for a Traffic Control Technician position for South County (Local 367, grade 113); staff noted certifications and training requirements.
• Equipment and repairs: The board adopted Resolution 2025-062 to authorize a single-source repair for the VacTruck from EnviroClean and Equipment Inc. in the amount recorded in the motion as $1,737.18 plus taxes/shipping and approved purchase of one Miller Multimatic welder (three bids received) for $6,504.52 to be paid from the Equipment Rental and Revolving Fund, County Road Fund 502.104.
• Facility use: The board approved two facility-use applications for Moorhead Park in August 2026 (a Crowsgate Corbin Crafting Convocation and camping for the Peninsula Blues Festival) subject to up-to-date insurance and authorized the chair to sign.
• Court workstation and IT equipment: Commissioners approved purchase of a workstation package (Dell Pro 16 Plus laptop and peripherals) for the Superior Court position not to exceed $2,200 plus tax and shipping, and separately approved buying 45 Dell Pro 16 Plus laptops via NASPO to replace obsolete county equipment.
• Vendor claims: The board approved vendor claims (check numbers listed in the motion). The transcript records a large numeric amount that may reflect a transcription artifact; the board’s action was to approve vendor claims subject to budget appropriations.
