Commissioners approve multiple personnel actions, hires and transfers

Pacific County commissioners approved multiple personnel actions during the Oct. 14 meeting, including resignations, hires, and a voluntary transfer.
The board acknowledged the resignation of Jerry Hawkes, senior legal assistant, effective Oct. 10, 2025, and authorized posting and hiring for that union-represented position. It also acknowledged the resignation of Jeff Hall, Road Maintenance Technician 2, effective Oct. 3, 2025, and authorized posting and hiring for his replacement; Public Works staff commented on ongoing turnover in road crews.
Health and Human Services staff introduced Bryce Brown as the selected veteran service officer (Local 367C, grade 118 step 1), effective Nov. 1, 2025; the board approved the hire and welcomed him. The board also approved 12 weeks of family medical leave for a qualifying Health & Human Services employee (effective Sept. 23, 2025).
In the afternoon session the board approved a voluntary transfer of Sheila Didion from payroll/benefits technician in the Auditor’s Office to a vacant senior accountant position in the Treasurer’s Office, effective Oct. 25, 2025, under the collective bargaining agreement; the board also authorized posting to fill the payroll/benefits technician vacancy. County officials on the record expressed appreciation for the transfer and support for the employee.
All personnel motions were approved by voice vote and carried subject to budget appropriations.
