The Pacific County Board of County Commissioners voted to authorize staff to post, advertise and hire either a junior accountant (Local 367-C union, grade 1-14) or an accountant (Local 367-C union, grade 1-17) to fill a forthcoming vacancy in the county auditor’s office, subject to adequate budget appropriations. Committee member (Speaker 1) moved the request and Committee member (Speaker 3) seconded; the motion passed with ayes recorded.
Staff member (Speaker 4) told the board the request follows the appointment of Nicole Destin to the county auditor position, effective Dec. 1, and that the auditor’s office is proposing to fill the vacated role as a union classification rather than as a management position. "With the appointment of Nicole Destin to the county auditor position effective December 1, there will be a vacancy in the county auditor's office," the staff member said, explaining that the change does not add an additional full-time equivalent.
The board’s approval allows Human Resources to begin advertising the vacancy and proceed with recruitment if budget appropriations are confirmed. No additional staffing level (FTE) was requested as part of the motion.
