Pondera County sets daily incarceration credit at $100

PONDERA COUNTY, Mont. — The Pondera County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 7 adopted Resolution #13 (2025/26) establishing the county’s daily rate for incarceration credit at $100 per day.
Under the resolution, the $100 daily rate applies to confinement costs ordered by the court and means that detainees serving time in lieu of paying fines are allowed a $100 credit for each day of incarceration. The resolution specifies that inmates are responsible for actual medication, medical services or hospitalization costs while detained and that the County Attorney shall initiate proceedings to collect any such charges from inmates or responsible third parties as authorized by statute.
The resolution cites Section 46-18-403, Montana Code Annotated, as the statutory authority for setting the rate. The measure passed on a 3–0 vote.
