Downtown upgrades, Meisner Park work and website refresh highlighted at CRA meeting; resident urges more tennis-center advertising

Ruby Riley, downtown manager for Boca Raton, briefed the Community Redevelopment Agency on ongoing downtown appearance and accessibility projects, saying crews have installed ADA-compliant paver pads around café seating, begun phased fountain restoration, repainted cultural arts facilities and are preparing conduits for future security cameras and fiber work.
"I'm Ruby Riley, Downtown Manager," Riley said, and detailed planned work at Meisner Park: paver pads around cafe tables, phased fountain repairs (North and South fountains first, center fountain later with a brief pause for the centennial), water meter installations needed for drinking fountains with dog bowls, repainting and resodding and a refreshed DowntownBoca.org with an interactive map under development.
During public comment, Judy Morrow (1305 Northeast 5th Avenue) praised a new pickleball awning at Patch Reef and asked whether Terra Frisbee's updated drawings will show replacement tennis courts and when they would be posted to the city website. Morrow also urged the city to promote programming and advertising at the Boca Raton Tennis Center and suggested outreach such as a promotional sign or a free first lesson for children.
"Children 10, your first lesson is free," Morrow said, urging clearer signage and more public relations for classes and clinics at the tennis center.
Commissioners followed with operational questions: one cited behavioral placement studies for trash cans, another asked whether recycling bins are being used correctly, and Riley said she is coordinating with Brookfield on regular cleaning and monitoring. Board members also discussed dog-friendly features at Meisner Park and thanked staff for the website refresh and ongoing fiber work that could support future services.
Riley said the fountain work should be completed by June and that the team is reviewing the number and location of trash bins downtown. The board closed public comment and moved into staff reports and the financial presentation later in the meeting.
Next steps: staff will continue to coordinate plans for Meisner Park amenities and post updates to DowntownBoca.org as drawings and meters are finalized.
