Northern Lehigh finance director outlines $231,000 net funding increase and grant prospects

The director explained $99,000 of that increase is available for general use, while roughly $131,000 is associated with a new mental-health and safety grant that must be spent in specified areas. The budget also increased special-education base funding; Northern Lehigh’s share of that increase is roughly $102,108. A small tax-equity allocation of $24,000 was discussed; staff said they expect to apply that to debt payment. New cyber charter reimbursements and changes to cyber special‑education tuition calculations should modestly reduce next year’s cyber‑charter special‑education costs by roughly $40,000.
Mrs. Molitoris noted a new triennial behavioral-health assessment requirement that the mental-health grant can help fund, and that charter reforms include audit and advertising disclosure requirements. She said the district will learn exact grant allocation amounts when the PCCD releases its spreadsheet and the district can apply for the mental-health grant when it opens in August.
