Board committee approves first-readings for sick‑leave bank rule changes and activity‑fund updates

On Policy 334.1 (benevolent sick leave bank), changes include a clarified definition of "severe medical condition" (minimum 10 working days/outage), a requirement that donors retain at least 40 days in their own bank before donating, a typical cap of 30 donated days per catastrophic event (allowing more if staff donations exceed that), exclusion of elective surgery from eligibility, and clearer rules on who may donate across pay classifications (donors may give to peers at the same or lower classification but not upward). Molitoris explained donated days do not go into an anonymous pool; donations are applied using a round‑robin method and unused donated days are returned to the original donor.

The committee also reviewed updates to the district’s revenue/fund policy (originally drafted in 1997) to remove athletic-specific language (athletics moved to the general fund), remove purchase-order requirements for clubs (replacing them with an adviser/student/principal expense‑form signoff process), and add ticket‑sales accounting for theater as a special revenue fund at the high school.

Committee members asked clarifying questions about donation caps, how donated days are used and returned, and whether first readings could be scheduled for the next board meeting; Mrs. Molitoris confirmed both items would be moved to Monday night for first readings.
