Commission approves KP Development phase subdivision 4–1 after opposition from one commissioner

The Anaconda Deer Lodge County Commission approved preliminary plat approval for a phase subsequent minor subdivision by KP Development LLC on Sept. 10, with the motion passing 4–1.
A commissioner said they had opposed the project from the start and questioned the developer’s transparency and qualifications, noting the developer lacked a Dun & Bradstreet number and raising concerns about perceived favoritism. CEO Everett responded that some development groups do not carry D&B entries because they do not borrow capital and are funded by private wealth.
Planning staff recommended approval with the usual condition that each final plat in the phase be conditioned on required infrastructure being built out. The commission moved and seconded approval; the vote was recorded 4–1, with Commissioner Gallagher in opposition.
Next steps: staff will track final plat submittals for phase infrastructure conditions.
