The Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Commission approved a task order to the master contract with Montana DPHHS covering environmental health and food-safety licensing and adopted a memorandum of agreement supporting on-site rapid testing for syphilis, HIV and hepatitis C at STD clinics.
Staff said they had reached out to the state and received answers that satisfied county questions about the task order. The motion to approve the DPHHS task order passed by voice vote; commissioners recorded unanimous approval when called.
During discussion, staff and commissioners noted syphilis rates are rising nationally and within Montana; one commissioner said the county is seeing increased cases and supported the rapid-testing agreement as a public-health measure. The STD clinic memorandum is intended to formalize county support for on-site rapid test availability and related services.
The commission also approved the reappointment of Vera Horshane to the DUI task-force board and appointed Tom Dunnessy as the county’s representative to the Ramsey Mountain Radio Users Association. Those personnel items carried by unanimous votes.
